Contract Packaging Essentials:
1) What is contract
packaging?
We work with companies that have their own in-house
formulators and chemists who have developed pre-existing
formulas and help them package in various easy to use
product packaging.
2) What about partial
formulations and compounds?
Patomac offers 3 tier level programs.
a) Tier #1 - Many manufacturers approach us with fully made chemical
mixtures ( held proprietary by the company) which is
then sent to us in bulk. We take such chemicals
and package them according to your specifications.
b) Tier #2 - Certain manufacturers will send us
partially made mixtures (held proprietary) and provide
us with the formula to add to. We will then order
the remainder of the raw materials and make up the rest
of the formulation according to the manufacturers
ingredients followed by packaging.
c) Tier #3 - Manufacturers will send us their chemical
compositions(formulas) and provide us with the raw
materials. We will then compound it in our tanks and
make the formulation followed by packaging.
3) What about
confidentially on formulas?
Your chemical composition is held a secret. It is yours
and you own it for good. We will never make your
product for anyone nor will we sell it. We will
sign confidentially agreements as well as "right to
protect" formulas as well as compounding methods given
to us. If anyone approaches us who is interested,
we will refer them to you. This is our guarantee!
The contracts that we sign has all this clearly written
and there is no fine print.
4) Will you sell my
formulation to someone else?
Never. We do not promote your formulations on our
website nor do we market it. If your customer ever
calls us directly by some remote chance, we will not
manufacture your formula for them nor anyone else.
Your formulations are held a secret and this is how we
operate. And if anyone ever approaches us looking for
such a product by your brand name, we will refer
them to you. You have full rights over your
products because you own them outright.
5) My customers may
have found out that Patomac provides contracted
compounding and packaging to us. What now?
We are not the manufacturer because we don't own your
formula. We are just the laborers behind the operation.
We simply provide a means for you to get the product
packaged based on your formulation.
Your customers can never buy your product directly from
us nor can they approach us to take part in any
competitive bidding against you. They
will have to find a formulator, redesign the product and
manufacturer it . It wouldn't be cost effective
for your customer. We protect you at all costs.
6) What type of lead
times do you have?
Our manufacturing facility requires time to acquire the
raw materials. When we have everything set in
place, we will start the compounding process followed by
packaging and labeling for you. This is a 4 week period.
Some manufacturers will send in a blanket order to
release certain quantities a month. We will have
the material ready to ship on the dates that you
provide.
7) What are your
payment terms?
Net 30 days and credit limit is based on references
provided.
8) I am not a
formulator but I have a great product idea. Can you help
me make such a product?
Normally we prefer to work with formulators. However
there are a few exceptions to this rule because we have
our own Patomac Line that we manufacture for our own
customers. We will not provide or make a product
that belongs to someone who is already a customer.
We can refer you to them and you can work out the
agreements. If such a product doesn't exist in our data
base and based on your total volume, we can develop a
product if it meets our criteria of existing product
formulations.
9) I have a formula
but it needs some tweaking on performance. Can you help?
Although we have chemists on board, our
core business is not formulations for the exception of
our own Patomac line. We can
help re-design it for you so long as it is not a product
with the same chemical formulations as the one we
package for our customers. The best thing to do is
to send us an email and let us review your request.
10) Raw materials are offered
in various grades. How do you determine what to use.
We don't decide this. Normally
the formula provider will give us the raw material
grades to use. We will use what is required in the
formula.
11) What types of
container packaging do you offer?

limited to this list:
